Changi Airport Terminal 3 Open House! (24/11/07)

Welcome to Changi Airport Terminal 3!
Click here for the official website to take a sneak preview of the new T3. :)
Since our service is at Expo which is SO near Changi Airport, Shu Hui and I meet up a little earlier before service to take a look at this new building that as a Singaporean will be proud of.
The overview of the counters at Terminal 3.
From Wikipedia:
"Plans for Terminal 3 were reviewed, resulting in a new design concept which departs from the largely utilitarian architecture in the first two terminals. The terminal is designed by
Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and CPG Corporation and topped by a unique roof feature, the terminal is equipped with a full-service nine-story Crowne Plaza Hotel on its premises. Officials commenced construction in 1999 after receiving the green light in December 1996.
Originally planned for completion in 2006, the date was postponed by two years after global terrorism concerns delayed growth of air traffic in the airport. On 30 May 2006, a topping out ceremony for the terminal was conducted, and when opened on 9 January 2008, will increase the airport's total capacity to 70 million passengers."
Guess who I saw at T3? It's Glenn Ong and his fellow DJs and staff from Class 95 FM!
Well, I suppose this is probably to train them to elaborate much more on air about this new terminal that most of us are awaiting for its opening on 9 Jan 2008 ya? :)
There are actually tours, at S$3, provided for anyone interested while they visit T3. Visitation to the transit and immigration area of T3 is available only upon the purchase of the ticket at S$1. Smart way to earn money huh? Hahahha...lol
Most of the terminal is still empty but some shops and eateries have already opened for business operations. At the centre, there is also a counter with more information about the structures of T3 and its features etc.
This is how T3 overall looks like. :)
The departure area...so nice!
Going up to the viewing gallery of T3 which is located on the 3rd level. For 2nd level, it is lined up with shops and restaurants, probably for the people who are waiting for or sending off their loved ones, friends and family members, coming from or goin to abroad.
The viewing gallery!
From here, you can see both sides of the transit area and all the shops inside it...isn't it nice? :) Well, it probably help to those love ones who are gonna be apart for some time to see each other for a while longer from afar ba...
This design, however, looks a little similar to that of the HK International Airport with the glassy design and the spacious feeling...don't you think so?
A little fountain inside the transit area...that's just such a brilliant idea and superb design!Next time if you didn't catch the last train back home from airport, maybe you can also consider staying at the new Crowne Plaza Hotel instead. Or...I would still prefer to camp out at the airport lobbies, 24-hours starbucks cafe or other eateries, and also the viewing galleries... :PBecause this is an open house, the public would probably want to know much more of our own airports. It is a really sweet thought of the organiser to come up with these little side facts about the airport that you and I might not notice daily but would be just happy to learn about them. Well...get what I mean? :)

T3 gives me a very spacious feeling and with its uniquely designed ceiling that allows light to seep into the lobby, you could feel the natural ambience and relaxing environment that the designer of T3 wants to give to the public, making you feel relieved and happy before and after your holiday or business trip...and to all Singaporeans who return or going abroad, feeling that this is our home sweet home indeed...

"I can't wait to go HK next year so that I can pay a visit to T3 again when it is officially opened...and all the shops are in operations! Hahahaha...lol"
