Europe Trip: Italy > Rome! (feat. Piazza Navona, Aeroporti di Roma...05/06/07)

Come across this island in the middle of the river in Rome, like a small isolated town on its own...The whole island is kinda out of place compared to the surroundings, with all its greenery, plants and flowers along the slow flowing river. It feels peaceful to have such a quiet place like this somehow. The buildings are new here with mainly restaurants, a few shops and a church. I wonder if there is any residential houses here...
There are couples lying on the grass patch on the island and people sitting by the river reading their books. I envy their laid-back lifestyle manz...lolCastel Sant'AngeloThe Mausoleum of Hadrian, usually known as the Castel Sant'Angelo, is a towering cylindrical building, initially commissioned by the Roman Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for himself and his family. The building, located in the rione of Borgo, spent over a thousand years as a fortress and castle, and is now a museum.Castel Sant'Angelo from the bridge.

The angel statue on the top depicts the angel from whom the building derives its name.Trajan's Column

Trajan's Column is a monument raised in honour of the Roman emperor Trajan and constructed by the architect Apollodorus of Damascus at the order of the Roman Senate. It is located in Trajan's Forum, built near the Quirinal Hill, north of the Roman Forum. Strolling along the streets in Rome is like walking through a history class...the best ever!A musician playing the water glasses...cool! One of the ruins in the middle of the city...cannot recall what this is now...except that the stray cats has inhabited the whole area and you will see them, even kittens, either sleeping or running around inside...With the Italian flag in front, I suppose this is one of the Italian governement buildings.Piazza Navona again! This street artist is posing as a busy businessman with his tie blown up with strong wind. He has to stay in this position for as long as he can.

What makes it interesting is a tourist trying to act like he is chasing after him...so funny! :DPantheon in the evening hours...still majestic as ever...
We walked our way back to the hostel and to the train station to catch our train to the airport. Here's one last glimpse of Rome before leaving...hopefully not forever...My train ticket! Finally arriving Rome Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino Airport! The intercontinental Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport is Italy's chief airport; it is more commonly known as "Fiumicino airport", as it is located within the territory of the nearby comune of Fiumicino, south-west of Rome.

Just like most airports around the world, there are also shops in the transit area. Unlike our Changi Airport which we must be really be proud of it, here is much smaller and the signs are all in Italian. I only come to appreciate how great is our own Changi Airport after visiting so many places...the best and the cleaniest too!

Finally taking off from Rome...Brussels here I come! :))

The surroundings of the Rome Airport is pretty much pieces of flat land for farming and agricultural activities.

Just look at the sea! Omg that's just so beautiful and deep blue sea there...well what can I say:

I WILL BE BACK! *grinz*
