The whole island is kinda out of place compared to the surroundings, with all its greenery, plants and flowers along the slow flowing river.
The buildings are new here with mainly restaurants, a few shops and a church. I wonder if there is any residential houses here...
The Mausoleum of Hadrian, usually known as the Castel Sant'Angelo, is a towering cylindrical building, initially commissioned by the Roman Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for himself and his family. The building, located in the rione of Borgo, spent over a thousand years as a fortress and castle, and is now a museum. The angel statue on the top depicts the angel from whom the building derives its name.
Trajan's Column is a monument raised in honour of the Roman emperor Trajan and constructed by the architect Apollodorus of Damascus at the order of the Roman Senate. It is located in Trajan's Forum, built near the Quirinal Hill, north of the Roman Forum.
Strolling along the streets in Rome is like walking through a history class...the best ever!We walked our way back to the hostel and to the train station to catch our train to the airport. Here's one last glimpse of Rome before leaving...hopefully not forever...
The intercontinental Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport is Italy's chief airport; it is more commonly known as "Fiumicino airport", as it is located within the territory of the nearby comune of Fiumicino, south-west of Rome.Just like most airports around the world, there are also shops in the transit area. Unlike our Changi Airport which we must be really be proud of it, here is much smaller and the signs are all in Italian. I only come to appreciate how great is our own Changi Airport after visiting so many places...the best and the cleaniest too!
Finally taking off from Rome...Brussels here I come! :))
The surroundings of the Rome Airport is pretty much pieces of flat land for farming and agricultural activities.
I WILL BE BACK! *grinz*
