Europe Trip: Czech Republic > PRAGUE! (26/05/07)

Welcome to Prague! :DD
This is the Prague Astronomical Clock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prague_Orloj )...the most beautiful and comprehensive clock I have ever seen! You are supposed to be able to read from it Zodiac signs, calendar and many other things besides time! Oh well...maybe I am subjected to stupidity after all coz I have no idea how to do so...hahaha...lolWe had our very first breakfast at the cafe next to the clock and facing the Old Town Square...fantastic view manz...lolDaryl ordered this cold dish as his breakfast and it tastes pretty good to me! :)Sharing this breakfast with Huiling. It's supposed to be some fruit jam and melted cheese on a small toasted bread. The cheese is not the usual cheddar cheese but the white one (forgot the name), hence the cheese taste is pretty strong...but NICE! :))
And I guess you can tell from the photo I am pretty happy that day...hahaha...lol *bleam*Old Town Square!Passing by a shop that sells this unique pastry, a doughnut-like breadroll which is hollow in the centre...looks good ya? :PThe bread is not really big and is formed from strips of bread joined together. So when you eat it, you can actually uncoil the whole bread like a spring! :D
There is no filling as it is hollow in between. Yet it tastes sweet and crispy like doughnut...yummilicious! *drool* This one is so much bigger manz...I WANT IT! *reaching out* lol
Suggested by Daryl, we took the bike tour around Prague, a tour in which you pay for the rent of a bike and also a tour guide who will bring you around touring the whole of Prague (he will stop along the way to brief on the significant landmarks as well as phototaking).

They usually departs in groups in different time intervals throughout the day and each tour will last for about 2-3 hours. Such bike tour is not just seen in Prague but in many other places around Europe as well. If you don't know how to cycle, you can possibly lookout for similar tours but this time on electronic kick scooter...totally effortless to move around! :D
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED it as these tours are also much cheaper compared to those coach tours and comparable to the walking tours, especially to backpackers who are sporty and tight on budget, and also anyone who wants to have something different in their holiday trip!

We travelled pretty much on bike, even coming across those narrow and small alleys in which the normal big coach cannot enter. It is all worth the money for a healthy and adventurous way to see Prague from another different view... :))
"OH NO!!! Someone is hanging up there...SAVE HIM!!!"

Hahaha...ya LIKE REAL! lolThe bluish couple & me! :PThe Prague river!

I realise Europeans love to paddle or row boats in the river as there is always boat for rent in such places...so coolz... *grinz*Someone told me this building is going to be filmed in one of the parts in the sequel of The Chronicles of Narnia...don't know if it is true or not manz... *shrug*Taking a break on the top of a hillslop which overlook the Prague city.

Notice that the buildings here are mostly low rise terraces...not say really as colourful as it would have been coz it looked more like a sea of orange rooftops...One of the places you shouldn't miss while travelling to the Eastern Europe is the Jewish cemetry. As Jewish used to the wealthier ones in the past, their cemetries are really a feast to the eye for it has the grandeur of the royal cemetries...Fred and Ginger Dancing House! :o

More information can be found on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dancing_House I juz thought it looks coolz for a normal drain cover like this...and you can only find this in the Jewish quarter...
The Jewish quarter in Prague looks about the same as the other areas, except that you can now see more often of the round-headed buildings...Metro stations in Prague are the most beautiful ones I have ever seen so far! :D

The BEST I can say so far for the trains are new and fast. Each station, unlike the common ones where you will see posters of advertisement on the side of the walls, has unique design to the walls (like the one above). They either come in many colours or outstanding shapes and designs...uniquely PRAGUE!!! *wide smile*Two men caught "pee-ing" in the public areas!

Well you know what...they will shake their butts (rotating sideways) if you look at them for long enough! :PThe bridges of Prague...manificent isn't it? :)On our way to the Prague castle, passing by even more majestic buildings like the St Vitus Cathedral which had been standing here probably for decades...or even centuries...Taking photo with a lady in the traditional Polish costumes...lovely! :)I love this photo manz...probably because Daryl and Huiling match perfectly with the church in the background...hahaha...well love is in the air! *grinz* :PWhile we are resting on top of the hill where the Prague castle stood, there came a group of protestors on their way to the government building in the castle.

Whatever they are protesting against, well, I have absolutely no idea unless you can interpret to me the Czech words there! :P But...don't you think it's a lucky thing we get to see such protests as well overseas? I mean Singapore you probably will never be able to this at all...oh well... :P My travelmates who are enjoying a world of their own in this romantic city...hahaha...lol
I just LOVE the Prague river...so romantic...hahaha...lolNever fail to take a photo of a cute dog along the street...so sweet isn't it? :PThat's me on the Charles Bridge!
And that's Daryl, posing as a stalker in the background...hahaha...juz kidding manz...lol

Nightview of the Old Town Square!

The blue lightings of the Old Town Tower gives the night a mystery and suspense feeling. I guess that's also why there are actually ghost tours available at night in Prague...who wants to give it a try? *wink* :P Tyn Church!

Such a contrast to the warm feel of the houses in the square manz...

Dinner at a posh Czech restaurant near the Tyn Church...you do need some pampering and Czech experience when it is neccessary... *grinz*

Cheers to Prague! These Russian dolls can be found almost anywhere along the streets of Prague.

Wanna get one back actually but they are not cheap at all and usually sold in a group of different sizes of dolls of the the same design.

The day may have ended for some but the night still continues for many in the vibrant nightlife of Prague...
