Europe Trip: Venture to the Eastern Europe...Poland WARSAW! (22-24/05/07)

Taking the Polish budget airline, Centralwings, at London Stansted Airport...my first ever European budget flight! :DOverlooking the outskirts of London...

Unlike their city or town area, the ground below now is split into patches of greenlands... :)Whenever I am on the airplane, my most favourite part of the journey is to look out of the small circular window and stare out into the white sea of clouds... *grinz*Finally, we landed at Warsaw international airport! :D

It's hard to see here but the red lighted words in the background of the photo read "Warzawa", that is Warsaw in Polish... :)Polish Airline!

I am sure you can't see this airplane at Changi Airport coz there is no direct flights from Singapore to Poland...or maybe just not yet! :PWarsaw airport is big, new and pretty much empty. One thing you need to get used to is that most of the people around will start to stare at you after a while there coz Asians or Chinese are pretty rare in Poland.
Throughout the time we waited at the conveyor belt for our luggage that never appear only after 2 days (see my past entry about this incident), my friend and I have been attracting quite a bit of attention over there, making me feel a little uncomfortable though... :/Polish Metro!

It is very new compared to many other places in Europe but it doesn't reach out to many places too. There Metro stations, however, are very well designed like a mini shopping mall. You are expected to shop around if you are not in a rush to board the train though...so relaxing! :DCannot remember what building is this but my friend told me it is a gift given by the Russian government to Poland. It is known to be the tallest building in Warsaw now...majestic right?Vietnamese Corner, a place where you can expect to get some cheap nice clothes and accessories...yet it is going to tear down soon for land use...well... :XVietnamese beef noodles soup! :DD

Having it in a roadside stall in Vietnamese Corner makes me feel like I am sitting right at a Vietnamese village! The food is fantastic beyond description and it is really super cheap!

All is worth coming here manz...even for a simple meal like this...hahaha...lolWalking past this garden inside a nice building...notice the colours of the trees inside? They are of different shades of green...and they looked just like frosted trees in summer...so cool! :D
Warsaw has retained most of its natural environment too just like many other European countries. Yet, as one of the East Europe places, you still get to see pretty lots of green even though you are at Poland's capital city most commerced area... :)The buildings are quite different compared to those in the West...newly renovated but yet they are very very old buildings that speak of decades or even centuries of history...The other bridge of Poland...supposedly to be an attraction because of its design and structure...forgot about it le...ooops! :P Old town!
Most of the Eastern European countries have Old Town and New Town as their tourist attractions...pretty nice and cozy parade squares actually... :PThe buildings here are old but newly renovated...slightly different from the Western European countries...maybe less gloomy?? Heee... :P The cozy little teahouse that me and my friend had really nice and uniquely blended tea inside...feel super shiok manz...lolGlimpse of Poland Warsaw!Little straw man...he is so cute! :DOld Town Square!
You will see more of them in most Eastern European coutries with buildings this colourful. There are mostly stalls selling handicrafts and paintings in the square, revealing the artistic culture of the European countries...coolz...when will we get to see that in Singapore? :)Poland is very proud of the ex-Pope who is born here. You will get to see his photos very often in Poland and on the catholic churches...Ice-cream is so popular in Poland that you can see people having them everywhere...as well as signs that tell you not to have them...hahaha...lolShopping is simply irresistible in Poland as it is really affordable, or even cheaper than in Singapore! :D For clothes and accessories of qualities that are comparable to the branded ones like Zara and Topshop, you can get them at a slightly lower price like that of U2 or Iora??
Just look at the dress I am wearing (even though I didn't buy it in the end coz I am exceeding my budget for my trip), this black chiffon strapped dress cost only about SGD50? It is not cheap but for such similar good cutting dress, it will probably cost you SGD70 here! So worth it! :DNight view of Warsaw...lovely... :)Geez I am cooking the last dinner for Huiling at her place, as a gratitude for her hospitality. But then, I feel a bit bad actually coz I am using up her food ingredients there too...hahaha...lolAccording to my friend, vegetables are precious in Poland. It's good enough that we managed to get cabbage that day for our dinner...thank God for the vegetables! :D

Love her place as the owner of the house decorated the house with a very strong feel of the Polish culture...elegant and very classy! *bleam*

Rental in Poland, according to my friend, is very cheap compared to many other places in Europe. For a nicely decorated house like this, located at the heart of the Orchard-like area of Warsaw, the rent is only about SGD800 per month? Good deal manz...lol

I believe this is one of the rare chances that I will visit Poland if not because I have friend who went for exchange here. There is nothing much to visit about in Warsaw but will be a great place to simply relax and enjoy for a weekend getaway.

The living expenses here is much lower than most countries in Europe and even lower than ours back in Singapore! :D Yet, the main problem here is that most of the Polish don't speak English and even not understanding the language at all. Hence, there is really great effort to communicate around here, lots of time using body languages...hahaha...lol

We met a Singaporean couple here too as they noticed our typical Singlish and the Mandarin-English mixed accent. They are in their mid-40s or even 50s and yet they are full of energy and telling us how they planned their backpacking trip around the East Europe! ZAI!!! :DD Well, next time I hope I can travel like that with my husband too...hahaha...lol *dreamz*
