Europe Trip: Italy > VENICE! (31/05/07)

My breakfast in Venice! They sell these pastries in such an adorable mini versions!

The owner is sure smart enough to understand the greediness of the customers who always wanted to try a little bit of everything! *thumbs up* :DMorning view of the streets of Venice!Italy is very famous for their pasta...thus they wouldn't mind to put a little joke on their classic world-known products... :P A bridal shop by the river side...who wants to marry here? *hands up*Gondolas started their businesses early right outside the hotels.

Tips: If you really want to ride on the gondolas and wanted a cheaper way to do it, you should try getting on one of them outside the hotels as these gondolas are bigger and can hold up to six people. So each person will person about EUR 10 (SGD 20) for a ride instead of paying the whole boat for EUR 60. Ideal for tourists travelling in a big group! :)Lunch -- Cuttlefish Ink Spaghetti!

This black coloured spaghetti is also a signature dish of Venice...must try! :)St Mark's Square A long snake queue into the St Mark Cathedral. Notice the floor at the entrance of the cathedral is still wet? This is because there will be flooding every night during the high tide here...The ceiling of St Mark is plated with golden tiles...coolz...This portion needs to pay another extra EUR 3 to go in...which I feel super cheated of my money as you only walk one round to view this gold plated picture which I don't really have a clear idea of what it means...oh well... *shrug*St Mark CathedralBelieved to be the place where St Mark is buriedThe other side of St Mark's Square and the St Mark's Lion on the tall pole standing on the left. These Horses of Saint Mark are a replica of the Triumphal Quadriga captured in Constantinople in 1204 and carried to Venice as a trophy.
Overview of St Mark's Square from St Mark CathedralSt Mark is majestic with all the golden pillars and walls inside.Overlooking the Grand Canal from the Rialto BridgeRialto Bridge is the biggest bridge in Venice and there are shops located on the bridge itself.Take a sneak photo of a candle shop...look at these beautifully decorated candles...LOVELY!!! The uniqueness of Venice: Pigeons that swarmed over your food, numerous bridges and special classy decorations, the famous Venezia glass products, yummilicious seafood, water channels instead of the bustling streets and roads, and...even a cafe on the rooftop???I cannot get enough of it!

Finally I have to leave this place of my dream...well I bought a pizza to console myself for the departure! Hahaha...lol

Venice has always been named as a romatic place with its rivers and its city with a character. Yet I don't find it as much as a romantic place as the streets are super crowded with tourists everywhere! Maybe that's another uniqueness of Venice also...hahaha...lol

If anyone of you intend to come to Venice, be prepared with extra cash as the things here are highly expensive, even to the local Italians. I suppose the reason behind is the difficulties in the transportation of goods to this place as it can only be accessed by boats.

I love every parts of Venice, the food, the place, the rivers...honestly I wish to be back here again. And girls, don't forget to get yourself some Venezia glass accessories before you go coz they are really cheap here...the only I would give no hesitation to get my hands on them...hahaha...lol

I have really been to the place of my childhood dream at last...THANK YOU JESUS! :DD
