Gunung Berlumut! (01/09/07)

On our way to Malaysia to begin our climb...
Are you ready to face the challenges gals? :PWe stopby a small coffee shop in JB for breakfast. From left to right: Esther, Our trek leader Kevin, & AndrewFrom left to right: Me, Daph, Chau, Beng Chuan's friend and Kam Chung, Kalidas, & Beng ChuanGunung Berlumut (Moss Mountain) from afar.
It is not as tall as many other mountains as it is only 1010m above sea level...but still there are many challenges lie ahead as we are supposed to complete it within a day... *hmmm* :/Finally at the foot of Gunung Berlumut! :DWe reached here late by 30minutes (about 10am) and we are expecting to be able to reach the summit by 230pm...can we do it? *shrug*The female trekkers of this trip...go gals! :))The symbolic wooden hanging bridge that marks our beginning and ending of the whole climb. One of the things I love most about trekking, my favourite hobby since young, is to be so close to the nature and feel that peace within them...lovely... :)Our first short break in the midst of the jungle...water parade! :PThe trekking trail is pretty obvious and generally flat ground most of the time. The challenge only comes when there are steps that are really steep that you need your hands to hold on to the branches to pull yourself up as well...a good exercise indeed ya? :PWe will certainly not forget to leave down evidences to show our existence here...hahaha...lolWeather is good on our way up to the summit and we had so much fun! :D Despite of our growing tiredness, we keep one another going by chatting along the way, joking around and even singing...or screaming??? Hahaha....thank God for all these wonderful time...Amen! :)Since there is rainfall lately, some parts of the ground is very muddy.
Oh well, our poor shoes... :STrekking can turn two strangers into friends. Trekking will definitely bond two sisters so much closely too...so warmth at heart... :)While we were about 3/4 up the mountain, we finally came to the Crown Rock, that is a rock with the shape of a crown. Guess that's where our break cum photo time came! Hahaha...lolThe most challenging of the whole climb is finally here -- 30-minutes of very steep upslope climbing! Not to mention that when we came down we will be coming down from the same way we go up too...so that'll just double the challenge!
Yet the very thing trekking will train anyone is to be persistent and never to give up. We came so far and the end is just so near...plus there is simply no way to turn back now isn't it? :)Do you know how you know that you are close to the summit?
Juz take a look at the breathtaking scenery that is emerging between the trees!According to our trek leader, there is a fake summit, a clearing near the top. Don't stop there coz there is another clearing that is higher and another 20 minutes to trek there! The clearing with the rock (bottom left) is the actual summit of Gunung Berlumut -- 1010m above sea level!Breathtaking view from the peak of Gunung Berlumut, that is, BEFORE the fog came... :l"...I am on the top of the world
looking down on the creation and..."
Trekking gives us the joy of accomplishment when you finally reach your final destination, the very place we wanna go right from the start of everything...
You can tell from all the joyous faces that any pain and tiredness will be diminished almost instantly here. :)Lunch time -- the best time of the day! *bleam*An amazing view from above...an amazing God above too who can watch over so many of us up there like this...thank you... :)I still can't believe I have climbed 1010m above sea level within a day...my very first time to finish the mountain in such a short time...WOOHOO!!! :DDCheers to all of us! :DDDaph discovered the leech on her feet while she took off her shoes so to climb onto the rock!
You will never see this iron lady so frighten and scream so much in your life manz...hahah...lolThe LEECH!
I hate these small slimy creatures too as they're the true bloodsuckers. They really scare the hell out of us (the girls) as many of us got them in our shoes too on our way down the mountain. Daph was the only one bitten by it as other leeches are caught outside our socks our flat beneath our feet...yeeeeck! *goosebumps* :S
Colourful ponchos! :P
We were caught in a heavy rain on our way down. Still remember the 30minutes of steep slope climb? We really have to thank God the rain only comes after we finish that toughest part of the climb! If not...I will wonder if we can ever manage to make our way back before the sunset... The FEAST!!! :D
Nothing beats a great dinner after the exercise...it is still the Hungry Ghost Festival isn't it? Hahaha....lol *bleah*

The restaurant's signature dish -- Fruitty Fried Fish!

It tastes really sweet and fragrant with the fruitty sauce...yumillicious! :D

The day ends well for all of us -- satisfied, happy, and totally exhausted. :)

Thank God for this day trek at Gunung Berlumut.

Thank God for bringing us closer to one another through this trip.

Thank God for the protection He has for us and the good weather on our way up as well as the rain that comes after our toughest part of the climb.

Thank God for giving me this great learning experience.

Hope we will have another trip like this another day. :)
