Europe Trip: VENICE NIGHT! (30/05/07)

Evening view of the Grand Canal
Since there is no bus but boats, this is the only mode of transportation around besides walking -- River Bus. And this is the bus stop...or more likely the boat stop?! :P

Since we are poor students who cannot afford to take the Gondolas, we still try out on the river bus to have a river cruise around the whole of this beautiful water city at night...yeah! :DBridges are also an iconic symbol of VeniceGondolas are now docked right next to the restaurants by the river side...waiting for their passengers to come back after their sumptuous seafood candlelight dinner... *envy*Night of Venice is much more quiet than in the daytime as the tourists either enjoying their dinner at a nice restaurant or back in their hotels resting after a long day of walking...Cute statues along the river sideApproaching yet another river bus bus-stopThe most famous bridge in Venice -- Rialto Bridge at nightI love Venice even more at night...beautiful...Kinda reminds me of the usual squares we see that are surrounded by the commercial buildings. Yet here the difference is that the floor is not the dry concrete floorings but channels of water... An artistic photo of me in the boat! (see the background is moving? :P)The Grand Canal that leads to the sea to the offshore islands of Venice, Lido and Murano.A church beside the river that is under renovations Restaurants are lined neatly in a row along the river side of VeniceSt Mark's Statue at nightThe Ponte dei Sospiri, the Bridge of Sighs

This picture is seen in most of the postcards in Venice and probably the best shot I had taken here, leaving behind a sense of quietness and loneliness...A band of musicians performing at a restaurant at the St Mark's Square The most expensive dinner of my whole Europe trip...but probably the best! :DD

Eating out in Venice can really cost a bomb and this is the place where I would rather choose McDonald than the restaurants even their Extra Value Meals already doubles those back in Singapore (approx EUR 7 - 8 per meal).

This is a dinner to give me the true experience of coming to Venice as they are very famous for their pasta and seafood. Here's a tips to what to order in Venice --

Entree: Mussels in White Wine;
Main course: Pasta with Clams or Spaghetti alla Carbonara (ham in creamy sauce);
Dessert: Tiramisu

And if you can afford more, get a white wine (Chianti or Amarone...both belongs to the Italian wine type) to go along with the food!

The BEST dinner ever!!! :DD
