I guess those plants should belong to the Malaysian side.
Finally, this is the answer to the mysterious fires that I often see from my HDB corridor.
One side of the beach is simply packed with lots of boulders...
...and even more boulders when you walk further away from the jetty. 
Notice the boulders behind me are stacked up in layers? I wonder who did this and when this is created as it certainly doesn't look natural to me...*shrug*
