Discipline

"The world bows at the feet of a disciplined man."

Yesterday cell group was short but powerful. It was on the most thing that is needed in our lives, and I would say one that I am greatly lack of -- DISCIPLINE. The race that we had in our life is a marathon. There is a very long way to go and to complete it, we need to discipline ourselves. How to say that?

We need a training program in our life. This training program varies upon what you want to achieve in YOUR life. For example, if you want to prosper in your finance, your training program should be to set yourself a budget and to plan ahead of your spending, proportioning your income, expediture, savings, tithe, offering and building fund.

If you want to excel in your studies, your training program would require you to set your timetable, allocate the slots for your reading, studying, breaks etc and to stick to what you set for yourself in your timetable.

The are a few questions you need to ask yourself and remind yourself too:
  1. What are you doing when NO ONE is watching you?
  2. Are you improving or growing? Or are you still remain stagnant at that same old spot?

Some people dream of getting strike in Toto and 4D. I don't dream of that as much. I learn one thing that Darren told us about this: If you cannot discipline yourself, you will NEVER be able to handle this sudden large sum of money when you are not ready for it. God would want to prosper you but he would not want to grant you something that you might eventually squander away. He will give it to you when He believes that you can handle it and even make use of its potential to produce great things in your life eg. setting up your own successful business.

There is a chinese saying "Know others & know yourself: You will win over 100 wars you fought in." My eyes instantly lit up when Darren uses the SWOT analysis, one analysis that always use on my projects and exams. I learn this over my Marketing module since year 1 and that time I thought this is pretty easy to apply and remember (together with PEST analysis when we need to examine the external environment of a certain business or company).

SWOT: Strength, Weakness, Opportunity & Threat. While you are in the marketplace, use this analysis on yourself and see where you stand. You will know where you can improve too when you know where you stand. Nothing is much better than knowing yourself for you will "win over a hundred wars you fought" remember? :)

You need to discipline yourself to read the books you bought, to enrich youself in courses that give you the knowledge that you need. For me, I know right now I need to discipline myself to study and be ready for my examination.

Remember this: KNOWING the word of God and SHOWING the word ofGod in your life is two different things. The only word that links them together is "DISCIPLINE". God cannot use you if you cannot discipline yourself.

Discipline yourself is not really that tough. All you need is your determination and continuous practices of the good habits so that it will sooner or later become part of your life. Be CONSISTENT in your training program!

"The world bows at the feet of a disciplined man."

Jesus is one great example of a disciplined man...there are so many things I wanna learn from You...Thank you father for this message that will serves as a reminder for me once again... :)

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight.

Honour the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine."

~ Proverbs 3: 5-6, 9-10
